How to Extend Windows 7 Trial Period Upto 90 Days
November 7th, 2008
Now most of us have probably been Wowed! by the all new Windows 7 Pre-Beta and might be itching to get hands on or already had got some good experience. You’d already know that the Pre-Beta build will automatically expire after a trail period of 30 days.
Unless you attended the PDC 2008 and got an activation key, there is no way you could activate Windows 7 forever but you can expend it upto 90 days then the usual 30 days time.
Here is how you can reset the activation expiry date.
- Download Windows 7 Pre-beta and burn the ISO to a DVD.
- Install Windows 7 Pre-beta using the DVD and while installation make sure to not put any activation key.
- Once the installation is complete, open Command Prompt.
- Type any of the following three commands.
sysprep /generalize or slmgr.vbs –rearm or rundll32 slc.dll,SLReArmWindows - Hit Enter
- Reboot Windows 7 and enjoy another 30 days of free trial.
Note: This method only works twice so make sure to use it only when your 30 day trial period is about to expire.
Thanks for the tip man, my trial period is about to end and I was wondering how to extend this somehow.
Finally…….!
