Travel websites for planning your next Vacation
joo28

People love traveling, most of us try to go for a local or international trip annually. Bad thing is that we often miss out due to work, school, financial problems. Even if we go good trips are ruined because of lack of information, bad deals etc.

From my personal experience today’s internet provide us with great websites that helps us find the correct flights, tickets, reservations, information of the place, maps and hundreds of things that makes traveling easy. I would like to share few of them that has helped me almost in all trips that I have done recently.

Airfares and Hotels Comparison

Kayak is an aggregator that fetches fares from the travel booking sites. It also tracks hotel fares and other travel methods.

Gmail may soon offer Friend Updates?

December 31st, 2007

Folks at Google Operating System has found code that suggest that Google Chat also known as Gtalk within Gmail may soon offer friend updates, similar to services offered by Plaxo.

Actually Google already offers this update service in Orkut and Picasa web albums. Besides this recently Google Feed Reader has recently started to displaying shared items from your Google Talk contacts. But i don’t get it why we need more of these lousy services that do nothing then cluttering your workspace.

For more check out the Google Operating System Blog.

The Gmail updates will probably gather all this information, merge it with recent activities from other Google services and display it in a continous stream, similar to Facebook’s newsfeed.

One Messenger to rule them all! Yahoo!, Google Talk and Live

December 28th, 2007

One Messenger to rule them all! Yahoo!, Google Talk and Live

You might came across Meebo,I’m sure about that. AirTalkr offers a web based instant messenger that lets you stay connected with your buddies on Google Talk, Yahoo! Messenger, Windows Live and other popular IM services. Besides that it integrates with social networks like Myspace, Friendster even Twitter. AirTalkr is an interesting enough app worth a try.

Unlike Meebo which is only browser based, AirTalkr IM on the other hand sits firmly on your desktop using Adobe AIR runtime. But browser based version is also available. AirTalkr can run on Windows and Mac.

The other useful feature in AirTalkr is something called AirCards. Which lets you view the latest photos that your buddies have uploaded on Flickr, read their most recent blog entries and Twitter tweets right inside AirTalkr.

To install AirTalkr you’re going to need the latest AIR runtime, which you can get here. AirTalkr itself is directly available here.

Witty, a Twiter Client for Vista

December 27th, 2007

Anyone there caught with the twitter bug. You can’t seem to sign out of Twitter but you still have lots of works to do with your browser rather then twittering the whole day. You can still manage to twitter along with a desktop client.

Witty, a Twiter Client for Vista

Twitteroo desktop client seems to work in most cases letting you twit while working without switching tabs. But i really would love to have something for Vista, something that’s built on WPF more like the Yahoo Messenger for Vista. In that case Witty might just the thing for you.

Witty, a Twiter Client for Vista

Witty is created by Vertigo, they already have made many apps based on Vista exclusive features. But you won’t find any mention of Witty on the company website. Rather you have to move over to the official Google Code page. Hum…..so it seems to be a beta.

Digg, The Song

December 24th, 2007

 YouTube Preview Image

I never expect this ! , a song for Digg.com. All Digg fanboys should be going crazy with this. The song is pretty cool, is performed by Kina Grannis. I really think she deserves something from Kevin Rose.

When I’m feeling lazy, at school or when I work
I sneak to my computer, and then I like to shirk
I don’t go online shopping, I don’t email with my mom
I open up my browser, and go to digg-dot-com

Chorus: Gotta digg, gotta digg, gotta digg
Gotta make this story big!
Did you hear that awful sound?
Another server’s down!

I always dig up Apple, and I bury Microsoft
But when I said I was a girl, all the diggers scoffed
And when I see those stories about Senator Ron Paul
I don’t even RTFA; I just digg them all!
