6 Simple Ways Effectively Use time
Time is a valuable thing. Idling is a waste of time, it kills productivity (everybody knows that). But have we done enough to fix it!
Question is why do we get idle and how to fix it? Grossly because its human nature! Most of us love to sit thinking about this and that, maybe sleep, or do nothing at all. Anyone can become idle; most of us have the tendency. Family, friends, internet, TV anything can be a distraction.
Tackling idleness is easy; just make sure you keep your mind focused. In the last few months, I came over few interesting things that led to idleness and how did I overcome it.
Here they are:
1. Reduce your idle time. Easiest way to minimizing idling is not letting you to get idle. If you find yourself engaged with something then your idleness decreases thus you are more productive. But don’t overwork! Give your mind and body some rest once in a while.
2. Stop reading social news sites like digg, reddit, mixx etc. Internet browsing can take lot of value hours of your schedule. Before you realize it, you already have spent hours surfing without any productivity. Social media sites like Digg, reddit on daily basis put up tones of interesting stories. It’s quite easy to get curious and forget about time.
3. Don’t oversleep. Everyone loves to sleep. But sleeping more then required automatically cuts down your working time. Sleeping for 8 hours while your body requires just 6hours, that’s a waste of 2 hours of work time.
4. Stop thinking. Stop wasting your time thinking of what to do next, its easy to get carried away with useless thoughts and ideas, unless they are industry turning ideas! Try to concentrate on the work at hand rather then thinking of what to do next.
5. Write out a to-list each day. Plan your next day the night before. This way, you can get started with the most important tasks as soon as you wake up. If you go as scheduled there’s little time to get distracted.
6. Eliminate all distractions. I previously told you how internet browsing can affect productivity. While at work try to avoid the phone, email notifications, browsing, idle chit chat.
