How to run Google Chrome on your Mac and Linux Box

September 18th, 2008

I was wondering how you guys are feeling about the new open-source browser, Google Chrome. I’m quite loving it because of the ease of use and the less resource intensive operation. But unfortunately my Mac and Linux buddy is still missing out on the Chrome goodness as Google hasn’t yet committed for a official Linux or Mac version.

Luckily a new project called CrossOver Chromium could be a stop gap between Google Chrome and Mac and Linux users until any official version pops out.

CrossOver Chromium is a Mac and Linux port of the open source Google Chrome web browser created by CodeWeavers. But beware fellows, according to the devs, Google Chromium shouldn’t be run as the default browser on any of the systems as this project is just a proof of concept and besides that a natively supported Linux and Mac version might just be around the corner.

Artweaver: Free Photoshop Alternative Image Editor

Artweaver: Free Photoshop Alternative Image Editor

Don’t guess ArtWeaver as a Photoshop “clone”, because this one doesn’t want to prove itself better then Photoshop, but instead wants to be viable slimmed-down alternative that any beginner or intermediate users would be comfortable with.

First thing that you’ll notice about Artweaver is the uncomplicated interface that most Photoshop users are so used to. Good thing is that it recognizes tablet inputs and the calibration tool is quite handy and easy to use.

But will it beat Photoshop, you already know the answer! Nopes!. Neither guys at Artweaver want to beat them, they just want to put forward a decent free tool for guys who just want to touch up there party, vacations photos without having to go though multitudes of options.

That doesn’t means its less competitive to Photoshop in anyways, if the open source guys can fork out plugins(plugins support is also there), I’m sure Artweaver can give Photoshop run for its money.

How to Log into Two Accounts at Once with Chrome’s Incognito Mode

How to Log into Two Accounts at Once with Chromes Incognito Mode

You’d already know Google Chrome’s incognito  mode is quite cool and less sophisticated than IE8’s InPrivate browsing and will be more then useful if you have multiple gmail or other accounts.

When you open a window in incognito mode (Ctrl+Shift+N), Chrome doesn’t saves your cookies like a standard session would, so you can easily log in to another Google account.

Chrome’s help center has more details about this feature. “Webpages that you open and files downloaded while you are incognito won’t be logged in your browsing and download histories; all new cookies are deleted after you close the incognito window. You can browse normally and in incognito mode at the same time by using separate windows.” Michael Jeffrey explains that “incognito mode is a window-level mode – all pages viewed within this window are not persisted to the user’s history, and incognito pages use a temporary cookie store that is blank at the start of the incognito session”.
